In the southwestern quadrant of Washington, D.C., there is a diverse group of neighborhoods representing a combination of residential, commercial, military and cultural interests. Known as D.C.’s Neighborhood Cluster 9, the region includes Buzzard Point, Southwest Waterfront and Southwest Employment Area. Real estate options consist of condominiums and apartments in various styles and prices. Cluster 9 is situated along the Washington Channel, directly across from East Potomac Park and Golf Course, just south of the National Mall. Buzzard Point is an area that’s in the process of defining its modern identity. As one of the oldest parts of D.C., this community has undergone many ups and downs throughout its long history. Today’s Southwest Waterfront, however, is poised for growth and continuing modernization. A planned 41,000-seat baseball stadium for the Washington Nationals Major League Baseball team is expected to bring more residents and businesses to the community.
